Tree Medicine

Tree Medicine
by Ken Johnson

European and Native American shamans share the belief that trees are inhabited by spirits and possess strong medicine or curative powers.  All trees and plants have a very special healing relationship with human beings because they act as natural filters to clean refuse from our personal sphere, as well as the environment.  The tree medicines that follow were known to
Indians and early European settlers for maintaining good health and
well-being on all levels.  Some of these remedies are still in use today.

ASH brings peace of mind, longevity, and protection against ruptures and wounds.  Warts rubbed on the bark are absorbed into the tree and dissolve on the body.

BEECH trees balance mental health as well as heal frostbite, skin
inflammations, hives, swellings, and infertility.  The future may be divined in the smoke of beech branches thrown into a fire.

BIRCH calms the mind, gives beauty, and guards crops and cattle.  The bark cures wounds, burns, ringworm, and ulcers.  An honored branch thrown into a stream brings rain.

CEDAR cleanses negative atmospheres.  The boiled bark makes a good astringent and purgative.  Cedar smoke brings good dreams.

COTTONWOOD is intelligent and provides helpful medicine in most matters.  Talk and listen to cottonwood when seeking a solution to troubles.

OAK loves children.  Its medicines include protection, prosperity, healing, fertility, vitality, and long life.  Oak branches placed in a garden bring rain.

SASSAFRASS medicine eases problems involving the teeth, eyes, and digestive system.  Prosperity results when money is buried near the roots of this tree.

PINES are messengers to the Otherworld.  The cones symbolize fertility and abundance.  Sit under a pine to recharge depleted energy, especially in winter.

WILLOW aids in spirit communication, eases labor pains, and gives vital energy to the sick and aged.  Burned alone or mixed with cedar, sage, and sweetgrass, willow smoke soothes and guides the souls of the dead.

             Tree Medicine for Clearing Negativity

Find a private space out of doors where there are many trees. Select a tree from the above list or one that seems special to you.  (If you do not have access to an outdoor area, use a house plant).  Speak to it and ask permission to give it all the negativity you have gathered in your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies.

Beginning at the top of your head, scrape the heel (the pinky side) of your right hand down the left side of your body, ending at your feet.  Again, scrape your left hand down the right side of your body.  Now, rub the heels of both hands on the trunk of the tree, thus releasing all the toxins gathered in your hands.  Likewise, scrape the front and back of your body and give the toxic residue to the tree.  When you are finished, thank the tree.  Watch how strong and fast it grows!

First Law of psychic energy:

All 'solid' objects are vibrating energy.

Unseen waves are also vibrating energy- sound, radio, electricity, light, television waves, microwaves, x-rays, gamma rays and psychic energy waves.

Second law of psychic energy:

The mind is an 'energy station' which creates transmits and receives energy.

  1. The will (of the mind) can change the form of energy.
  2. Thoughts, which are waves of energy, can be transmitted to and from human minds within the earth plane and to human and other entities in the afterlife in a process called telepathy.

Third law of psychic energy:

All living humans have a body made up of vibrational energy which is a duplicate of the physical body and will survive physical death.

  1. This vibratory energy body invisible to physical eyes can change form but can never be destroyed and retains consciousness.
  2. At the time of physical death, the duplicate body will have reached a certain vibrational level and will go to an energy sphere that can accommodate those vibrations.
  3. Selfless spiritual service increases the vibrational energy of the duplicate body.

Fourth law of psychic energy:

The afterlife has different levels of energy which form different spheres according to the speed of vibration.

  1. The faster the vibrations of a sphere the higher and more spiritually evolved are the entities which reside there.

Fifth law of psychic energy:

The more spiritually evolved a being is the brighter the energy of the aura.

Sixth law of psychic energy:

Slowing down the speed of the atomic vortices of the energy will result in materialization. Speeding up the vortices will result in de-materialization

Seventh law of psychic energy:

Energy is a 'boomerang' - the energy you give out will return to you.

The Alchemy Of Life

The Elements
Alchemy is a word based on the ancient Egypt 'al khem qem'. Al Kem means a mixture to create mixture, qem is to form from primary substance. In Latin, Alchemy is 'all composition'. The alchemical traditions associate certain elements of nature to the life of the world or universe even. In order for life to exist in any form, these four elements must exist.

There are only four elements in life: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.

The Alchemical Theory goes something like this:
When a substance is heated, a spirit comes out, and the substance will condense upon itself. When in this condensed state, the substance can be manipulated and molded. As it cools, the spirit returns to the substance filling it with life and a renewed purpose based on it's new shape. The substance represents the earth, the heat represents the fire, the spirit is air and the cooling is water. Thus you need all the basic elements of nature to move forward, change and grow. To live basically.

In esoteric terms, the principles of Alchemy explain the relationships between total creation the position of the parts which compose it. All parts are created from each other part, without all parts, there is nothingness.

Here's a quick example, Air feeds fire, fire dies by water, water is contained by earth, and earth creates the air. The cycle is meant to show the interconnection of all things, and the cycle of birth, life, change and death.

Air
The first element of the alchemical tradition. Air is the essence of intuition and learning, the element of the North and the nature of the mind.

Fire
The second element of the alchemical tradition. Fire is the essence of purification and change, the element of the East and the nature of the will.
Astrological Signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
Represented by: Fire, candles, lights, dragons and the sun.
Season: Spring
Color: Yellow and Green
